Yashima is mentioned in connection with battle of 1185 during Genpei war. At the top of Yashima mountain there is the temple where crowds of people always aspire to is constructed. During economic growth in the mid-eighties it has been decided to re-arrange Takamatsu into a tourist zone. With that aim they had to erect six hotels, parks, roads, oceanariums... But so happens, that all of this has not impressed tourists at all: expected popularity has never appeared. The invested money has never been paid off. And everything should have been closed: hotels and the rope-way, and everything else.
